To care for your body and take ownership of your health is a radical act. To care for each other as members of a greater community is too.
Community Midwifery Care is dedicated to personal, unhurried, evidence-based care. We offer prenatal, gynecologic, fertility, and abortion care in our offices in Park Slope and Chelsea, and attend births at Mt Sinai West Hospital. At-home visits are also available.
Why Choose CMC?
1. Expert in Pregnancy and Birth
Midwives are experts in low-risk, physiologic pregnancy and birth. While we are always monitoring for potential complications, we are not expecting them to arise. Pregnancy and birth are not primarily medical events; they are transformative life events! We trust your body to grow and birth your baby safely. We’ve caught hundreds of babies and celebrate each one with joy.
2. Personal Relationship Every Step of the Way
Midwifery is relationship-based care, and we will get to know each other very well! Prenatal visits are long, giving plenty of time not only for routine medical checks but for all of your questions to be answered and for us to understand what is important to you when it comes to your health and your birth.
As a two-midwife practice, we will be the ones to see you for every prenatal visit, meet you in triage when you first arrive at the hospital, stay with you throughout labor, and catch your baby when they are born.
3. Easy to Reach Whenever You Need
Between prenatal visits, we are available by email for all non-emergent issues/questions that arise. No need to wait until your next visit! Email us, and we will get back to you within a day or two. If you have urgent or emergent needs between visits, you will be able to call or text us at any time 24/7.

Meet The Midwives
Gina Eichenbaum-Pikser, LM, CNM has been a Certified Nurse-Midwife since graduating from Columbia University School of Nursing in 2008. Her decision to become a midwife came from a deep-seated belief in social justice, feminism, and the power of human connection, as well as a profound awe of the human body.
In 2012 Gina opened Community Gyn Care, focusing on fertility and holistic gynecologic care. She provided prenatal care and attended births in the public health setting at Bellevue Hospital Center from 2008-2016 before opening Community Midwifery Care with Abby Brown in 2016. Since catching her first baby as a student in 2007, Gina has attended over 500 births.
A life-long New Yorker, she currently lives in Kensington, Brooklyn with her husband and two kids.
Cara Pauls, LM, CNM, DNP. Cara’s road to midwifery began with a childhood fascination, sparked by her parents' yearly retelling of her own birth story. Cara worked in marketing for a decade, but after her own birth experiences, a switch flipped, inspiring her to change careers. She worked as a doula and lactation counselor supporting NYC families for 5 years before beginning her midwifery education at Columbia University.
She worked as a midwife at both Jamaica and Elmhurst Hospitals, providing free and low-cost care. She then transitioned to Central Park Midwifery, where she fell in love with providing intimate and thoughtful care.
She lives with her partner, two kids—both teenagers—and her dog in Queens. When she’s not working, she’s probably hiking with her family upstate, knitting or enjoying long conversations with friends over coffee.
